Adoption Through the Lifespan: Beyond Adoption Day
March 14 @ 10:00 am - 2:30 pm
Description: This workshop offers a balance between clinical identifiers of pathology and everyday impacts of how foster care and/or adoption impacts an individual. During our time together, we will take a deeper dive into developmental markers and identify how familial separation, multiple placements, trauma, abuse, neglect, and loss can lead to attachment and relationship challenges. We hope you join us as we share creative options for care, treatment, and support.
Learning Objectives: Attendees will be able to…
- Recognize three ways that grief shows up throughout foster care and adoption.
- Describe two ways that identity exploration occurs for the foster/adopted person.
- Identify at least one way to help support a struggling foster/adopted person.
- Engage in difficult conversations around foster care and adoption.
