Birth Parent Gathering with Nature, Art, & Horses: Mount Horeb
June 8 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Birth parents: the Wisconsin Family Connections Center invites you to join us for a very special event hosted by Natural Wisdom Counseling. Come spend the day connecting with other birth parents and their guests with the support of nature, art, and horses to learn to strengthen our connection with ourselves and with others. You will have the opportunity to experience hands-on activities that will support communication, empathy, deepening relationships, and a sense of community. Horse activities will include brushing, grooming, and possibly leading. (The day will NOT include riding horses, and if you are not a “horse person,” you will have plenty of flexibility and options during the day, so please do not let that deter you from joining us.) Snacks and drinks will be provided, as well as a lunch. All sensory and disability experiences are welcome. Information you provide about any special needs will be shared with Natural Wisdom Counseling. This event will be held at the beautiful Snapdragon Farm and Stables in Mount Horeb. In the event of rain, we will use the barn and indoor arena. All participants will need to fill out a liability release form before interacting with horses.
About our facilitator: We are thrilled to partner with Jess Dallman of Natural Wisdom Counseling for this event. Jess Dallman is a counselor and equine therapist who specializes in trauma recovery and relationship issues. Jess is experienced in working with people with autism, deafness, and complex needs. Jess has experience working with all members of the adoption constellation and is a co-parent to an adoptee. Jess has training in Infant, Early Childhood, and Family Mental Health, which guides their work with families. You are welcome to bring one guest or support person to this event. The day is free to attend and includes snacks and lunch! If you have any questions about the event or if it is filled up, please contact kmeyer@cclse.org to be added to a waitlist.
