Extended School Year (ESY) vs. Summer School: What’s the Difference

The workshop will provide an overview of eligibility considerations for extended school year services (ESY) and discuss example services under ESY. Comparisons between ESY and summer school will be discussed, with opportunities for audience engagement.
Presenter: Sara Totten has worked in education for the last 18 years, with the last 12 years serving as a director of special education. Sara holds a doctorate in educational leadership, has served as the president of the Wisconsin Council for Administrators of Special Services, and has taught as an adjunct instructor for Lakeland University’s master-level counseling program. Sara has published in scholarly journals and provided numerous presentations. Sara currently works for the special education compliance team at DPI.
