LIVE WEBINAR The Impact of Historical Trauma on Indigenous Peoples: Building Resiliency Through Culture

This presentation provides an overview of the multifaceted dynamics of power and control that exist within intimate partner violence, the impact on children in the home, and how similar factors have historically impacted Indigenous Peoples. We will discuss how culture and tradition have alternatively guided balance and equality to promote healthy relationships and build resiliency.
Presented by Louise Padron, a Oneida Nation Family Services supervisor who supports their foster care, kinship, and parenting programs. She spent her prior eight years as a gender-based violence victim advocate specializing in youth, legal, and housing advocacy. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay with a bachelor’s in psychology and human development and obtained her master’s in clinical mental health counseling from Lakeland University. She is a bio mom to two, a bonus mom to one, and a citizen of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin.
