Mindful Self-Compassion Practices for Parents in the Moment
January 31 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
As parents of children with special needs, we know how quickly daily life can move from coping to out of control. Together we’ll explore how mindfulness and self-compassion practices can provide an emotional anchor when things get to be “too much.” Leave with some practical skills you can immediately begin to use in your daily life for “in the moment” support and how modeling these practices helps our kids. (For those who attended the 2023 FACETS Mindful Self-Compassion Workshop, we’ll offer several new practices and provide a link to the 2023 recording.)
PRESENTER: Barbara Moser, MD is a grandma, mom, wife, animal lover, mindful self-compassion instructor, Compassion Resilience Toolkit trainer, and retired family practice physician. She has worked extensively in the realm of emotional well-being in the Greater Milwaukee region for over 20 years. Parenting her adult daughter who lives with pervasive developmental delay and blindness, Barbara has found self-compassion practices to be a key resource for herself and the caregivers she teaches in providing the strength, courage, and inner stability necessary to care for ourselves and sustain compassion for our kids and those whom we support and love.
