WICWA Webinar

Please join Nicole Homer from the Ho-Chunk Nation Legislative Legal Office, Elisabeth Stockbridge from the Shawano State Public Defender’s Office, and Children’s Court Improvement Program staff to learn about the fundamentals of the Wisconsin Indian Child Welfare Act (WICWA).
This free webinar will examine the basic legal and procedural requirements in child in need of protection or services (CHIPS), juvenile in need of protection or services (JIPS), minor guardianship of the person, termination of parental rights (TPR), and adoption proceedings involving an Indian child. The presenters will also touch upon the practical considerations surrounding these criteria, as well as the judicial inquiries and findings required in every case.
Continuing education credits will be offered for judicial officers, attorneys, and social workers. The webinar will be recorded for on-demand
viewing.
