Aging Out: Case Closed
Keely Lopez is a 21-year old African American woman who aged out in 2002. She grew up on welfare, lost her mother to AIDS, a brother in a drug shooting and her father to alcohol abuse. She finds and loses jobs, sinks into depression, becomes pregnant and returns to welfare. The one thing she can control, she feels, is seeing that her child is never in foster care.
